ad (since this morning) and I killed them. Yes, I wanted effective bug spray for the huge wasps nest outside my window - and it was effective...I figured that out when my throat started closing up as I was spraying in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. I ran out of the kitchen but I forgot about my fish. So now I officially do not have fish anymore because after swimming on their side and then swimming up-side-down they are not swimming anymore. I had to confess to Karen (she gave me the fish) who is home from university for her sister's wedding...and we decided we will go out and buy a Janneke and Karen the second next week (perhaps they will be turtles...but I have already wondered what I will do with them when they die...I think their shells would get stuck in the sewage pipe). Life last week was a bit hectic...but I am getting used to the new teaching sche
dule. I love all my student classes, but the class where I teach the teachers still stresses me out a bit...perhaps that will get better with time. Again, it has been REALLY good getting to know my students better. I love that I don't have to invite certain people over to my home anymore...they just show up. The students keep a really close eye on me...especially the girls in the girls dorm which I can see from my apartment. The girl often come up to me in the morning in class and say "you went to bed at _____ last night...we saw your light turn off". And then there's another crowd that wakes up at 5:30am to run "until we see your (my) light go on in the morning at about 6ish". It is really fun to teach the students...many of them are so eager to learn but SO shy. We play lots of games in class...it's a good way to get them talking!
Right now we're in the middle of a holiday called "Mid-Autumn Festival". My holiday from teaching started Sept. 26th and I will not have to teach again until Oct. 8th. Tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday I will go to Karen's sister's wedding (Sunday at her home, Monday at her future husband's home). From Tuesday till Wednesday I will go visit the village of one of my students (Eva - the girl with the orange sweater in the picture). It takes about 3 hours of traveling to get to her village so I decided I will stay the night to make it worth-while. I have been warned about rats and cockroaches already so I am a little scared but I guess people around here live through it....? I think the next few days will be filled with super neat cultural/tra
ditional activities and I am really excited for that! I am also happy that some of my friends will be coming home from university to celebrate with their families...it will be great to spend time with them again! One last thing...I baked bread...all by myself, and it turned out really good! I thought that was worth mentioning...

oh poor fish... maybe we can catch up more on the weekend since I'll be home for Thanksgiving and you wont be teaching :)
